The Seafarers' Charity expresses great sadness at the passing of our Patron, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Our sincere condolences are with the Royal Family at this difficult time.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning British monarch and Master of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets, and the Patron of The Seafarers’ Charity for over 70 years has passed away on 8 September 2022.
Queen Elizabeth II assumed the Patronage of King George's Fund for Sailors (now The Seafarers' Charity) from her father, King George VI, in 1952, ahead of her coronation on 2 June 1953.
We remain grateful to Her Majesty for supporting the Charity and the men and women of the seafaring community, past, present and future.
The Seafarers’ Charity’s Chair of the General Council, Paul Butterworth AFNI said, ‘The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a momentous event both for the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, but also throughout the world. On behalf of all trustees and staff, past and present, I offer my most sincere condolences to our President His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex and to the entire Royal Family.'
‘The late Queen Elizabeth’s kindness, care, and interest in all matters, particularly those of the sea as Master of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets, will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touched, either directly or indirectly. May she rest in peace.’
Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the Royal Family at this difficult time.
