Seapost - January 2024
The latest e-newsletter from The Seafarers' Charity.
We hope you all managed to spend the festive season with your loved ones at home. Unfortunately, not everybody could. Many brave seafarers were away from their families, working at sea to serve our needs and keep our supply lines open. If you have already donated to our Winter Appeal, we express our sincere gratitude. If you haven't had the chance yet, we invite you to donate what you can to help those facing hardship during the toughest season of the year.
In this issue, we announce the opening of the first funding round for the International Fund for Fishing Safety, along with our new partnership with Commsave Credit Union which provided affordable financial services to 64 fishing families over the last two years.
We also share praise for the industry conference organised during LISW 2023 by The Seafarers’ Charity, Sailors’ Society, Stella Maris, and The Mission to Seafarers, that focused on raising awareness around the wellness and welfare issues faced by seafarers.
We would also like to congratulate Mark Ashley Miller and his crew for completing their five-year-long #HarbourMasterSailingChallenge, celebrated with a dinner at Trinity House.
As we step into the new year, we invite you to consider participating in our main challenge events for 2024: TCS London Marathon and 24 Peaks Challenge.
