Royal Fleet Auxiliary pay deal: reaction
We welcome the positive resolution to industrial action undertaken by seafarers in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
The civilian-crewed RFA plays a crucial role in supporting the Royal Navy and has done so for more than a century. Without its vital work, defence of our nation would simply not be possible.
We congratulate the Nautilus and RMT unions for their dedicated work, including our Trustee Martyn Gray in his role as Director of Organising at the former, and the MoD for the recognition they have made of RFA crews' unique role and 120-year history.
The priority on all sides should now be ensuring that RFA careers remain attractive and viable into the future. The newly accepted deal acknowledges the ongoing need to address long-term recruitment and retention challenges.
We will continue to offer support to RFA members and the wider seafarer community.
