In 2023, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £2.4m in grants to 50 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.
Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

The National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations (NFFO)
Multi-year, co-funding application to employ a dedicated Welfare Officer for three years to aid fishers in need of health & wellbeing, financial or legal support, and to promote programmes that will increase resilience in those areas. Generously co-funded over three years by the Fishmonger's Company's Charitable Trust and the Marine Management Organisation's Fisheries and Seafood Scheme (FaSS).
Amount awarded: £14,800
Nautilus Welfare Fund (NWF)
Funding to support a top-up in care home fees for retired mariners residing at Mariners' Park in Wallasey, plus continued support for a part-time physiotherapist.
Amount awarded: £106,200
Scottish Nautical Welfare Society (SNWS)
Funding to support quarterly grants to SNWS's beneficiaries, plus a contribution towards welfare/running costs.
Amount awarded: £53,000
Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC)
Funding for the Sea Cadets national hardship bursary programme for young people from hard-to-reach communities and economically challenged families to access programmes otherwise beyond their means.
Amount awarded: £36,000
Annual National Service for Seafarers (ANSS)
A contribution towards the running costs of the Annual National Service for Seafarers held at St Paul's Cathedral.
Amount awarded: £1,000
South Western Fish Producer Organisation (SWFPO)
Funding to establish a means-tested Fisher Apprentice Discretionary (FAD) Fund that can be accessed by apprentices experiencing financial difficulty which would otherwise prevent them from completing an 18-month fisher apprenticeship programme. Generously co-funded by the Fishmongers' Company's Charitable Trust (£10,000)
