In 2023, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £2.4m in grants to 50 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.

Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

UK Women in Fisheries CIC

Grant to support the establishment of a UK-wide network body for women in UK fisheries. Funding will support co-ordination and promotion of the network and delivery of a programme of topic-led meetings.

Amount awarded: £27,000

UK Sailing Academy

Funding for two dedicated welfare roles to support the wellbeing of UKSA students which continues as they qualify and work as seafarers; and to roll out a ‘Mental Health and wellbeing for Seafarers’ training module internally and externally.

Amount awarded: £70,000

The National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations

Grant to part fund new post in NFFO as a Risk, Safety and Compliance Officer to improve fleet compliance with safety and welfare regulation.

Amount awarded: £20,000

The Money Charity

Additional payment for a second round of edits to financial capability training course and webinar for fishers supporting the Fishing Without a Safety Net recommendations.

Amount awarded: £480

Fishmongers’ Company’s Fisheries Charitable Trust

To produce an influential report for policy and decision-makers that collates the views of the fishing industry from around the UK, regarding how Brexit has affected them and how they can be better supported.

Amount awarded: £3,400

Stella Maris

To support Stella Maris’ welfare ship-visiting programme for seafarers and fishers across British ports as its services return to full capacity following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Amount awarded: £130,000
