Payroll giving is one of the most tax-efficient ways of donating and provides charities with a regular source of income to allow them to plan and budget for the future.
Give as you earn
Payroll giving is one of the most efficient ways to donate to charity because you can donate to the cause you care about directly through your salary before it is taxed. Your gifts go further and help hardworking seafarers and their families live dignified lives free from hardship long into the future.
We want to do more for seafarers and do it better. Your regular gift will make the world of difference to our brave, yet exhausted keyworkers in the UK and internationally.
How it works
When you set up a regular gift through your payroll, it’s deducted from your salary before tax, so it will cost you less. A monthly gift of £10 would only cost you £8, or £6 if you’re a higher rate taxpayer, the remainder is topped up by HMRC.
Why The Seafarers’ Charity?
For more than a hundred years we have been the largest independent funder of maritime welfare in the world. No other maritime welfare organisation has our reach, our knowledge, or our experience.
Using our network and the experience and connections we have gained over the last hundred years, we can see where there are gaps in the industry, and we can get the money to where it can best be used to support seafarers’ needs.
To become a payroll giver simply fill in our online form and we’ll do the rest for you. Once it’s processed, your employer will be notified, and your donation will come out of your salary on payday.
For employers
If you’re an employer and you would like to offer the scheme to your employees, it’s straight forward to set up. Email us at fundraising@theseafarerscharity.org and we can guide you through the simple steps.
It’s time to make sure that all seafarers, regardless of race, religion, gender, or nationality, have access to the resources they need for a dignified and happy life.
